Drill Site Manager

Summary: 

The Drill Site Manager is responsible for overseeing day to day drilling and completion operations at the well site. This includes working with and directing all service company personnel associated with the drilling or completion operation. The drill site manager will be focused on efficiently and safely executing the drilling or completion program. Continuous improvement is expected. Daily communication with drilling engineer and/or drilling manager will take place in a morning call and throughout the day as need. While procurement of long lead items will be handled by office staff the drill site manages will be solely responsible for ensuring that all materials and equipment arrive at the rig when needed. Fully completed well or well project per the scope of work.     

 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Support the EnXL Health and Safety Practices and expectations for location.

  • Assists in the planning of drilling projects, execution and closure.

  • Leads operations in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all personnel and the protection of the environment.

  • Lead pre-tour safety meetings and participate in all 3rd party safety meeting, and JSA discussions.

  • Responsible for the onsite participation and implementation of all safety policies and programs.

  • Maintain an IADC well control certification and be a leader of well control on the rig, this includes performing choke drills.

  • Identify and assess the Health, Safety, and Operational risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate.

  • Create daily plan of actions and Ensure these plans are communicated to and understood by all effected personnel.

  • Confirm with drilling engineer that all regulatory approvals are in place prior to any operation.

  • Ensure operations comply with statutory, policy and program requirements.

  • Continuously identify ways to reduce cost and improve work program effectiveness without sacrificing quality.

  • Ensure daily reports are submitted on time and information is accurate and complete.

  • Coordinate, supervise, and critique service company activities. Report opportunities for improvement and achievements that are specific to service company performance.

  • Review and recommend optimization of drilling program and procures, logistics, planning, and communications for equipment, personnel, and services.

  • Maintain working knowledge of Drilling Standards and location specific Best Practices and conduct work accordingly.

  • Prepares and issues daily drilling reports.

  • Collaborates with Supply Chain in the development of a contracting plan for resource execution. Collaborates with Supply Chain in the development of a contracting plan for resource execution. 

Requirements:  

  • Eight or more years’ experience performing relative essential functions

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree (preferred) in a relevant, technical discipline (e.g. Civil, Chemical, Construction, Construction Management, Electrical, Industrial, Safety, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Technology).

  • Experience in Permian Basin, Delaware Group and Ellenberger formations.

  • IADC Well Control Certification

  • Familiarity with challenging drilling environments (extended reach, managed pressure drilling, high temperature / high pressure).

  • Ability to work around the clock during drilling phase. 

Work Location:

Full time on drilling sites in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico with regular travel between site and Midland, Texas. 

Travel: 

This position requires travel to the surrounding areas, Midland County, Pecos County, Reeves County.

  • Exposure to elevated noise. 

  • Physical ability to kneel, lift, pull and push, reach, crouch, stand, stoop, walk, talk and lift.
