Concrete Crew Lead

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine concrete construction requirements or to plan procedures.

  • Works with concrete by placing, finishing, protecting concrete construction pads

  • Construct forms for the placement of concrete and structures

  • Must be able to set forms to line and level to the correct depth and pitch

  • Install rebar per instructions

  • Install miscellaneous materials in laying concrete pads

  • Assist in pouring of concrete

  • Check forms while concrete is being placed

  • Place the concrete either directly from the concrete wagon chute, concrete pump, concrete skip or wheelbarrow

  • Spread the concrete using shovels and rakes, sometimes using a straightedge back and forth across the top of the forms to “screed,” or level, the freshly placed concrete

  • Smooth the surface using either a hand trowel, a long handed “bull float” or powered floats

  • After the concrete has been leveled and floated, press an edger between the forms and the concrete to chamfer the edges to be less likely to chip

  • Assist and direct others in stripping forms after concrete is placed

  • Work with hand tools and power tools, saws, hammers, nails, and bolts

  • Operate motorized equipment such as forklift and tractor

  • Perform general construction labor to include jobsite clean-up and moving of materials by hand

  • Operator tractor for minor dirt work.

  • Site cleanup upon completion of project.

  • Responsible for Lead while working as concrete construction crew member.

  • Responsible for in Coordinating the activities of concrete construction crew.

  • Read Specifications, such as blueprints, to determine concrete construction requirements or to plan procedures.

  • Responsible for in the inspection of work progress, equipment, of construction sites to verify safety and to help ensure that specifications are met.

  • Responsible for with JSAs ensuring they are completed daily together with crew and signed by crew before work begins and visitors at the job site.

  • Responsible for safety procedures and company policies.

  • Assist in locating, measuring, and marking site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.

  • Responsible for coordination of activities with other construction project activities.

  • Responsible to apportion flow of work with crew members, based on material or worker skills and requirements of specific job.

  • Will Confer with Director of Construction and/or Construction Manager to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.

  • Responsible for Planning concrete crew activities out for one week and longer when possible.

  • Responsible for estimation of material to complete jobs.

  • Responsible for orders or requisitioning of materials through procurement group.

  • Responsible for record keeping such as details of project including: such information as personnel, narrative descriptions, photos and data on specified forms or reports, and Procore (construction management software.)

  • Provide assistance to workers engaged in concrete construction activities, using hand tools, electric tools and other equipment.

  • Responsible for Equipment and Machinery inspections and help arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery or replacement as needed.

  • Responsible Proper care for and maintain company vehicles.

  • Site cleanup upon completion of project.

  • Other duties as may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required

  • Previous concrete work and finishing experience is required

  • Previous experience leading construction crews.

  • Fluent Bilingual required

Setting/Physical Requirements

  • Work requires alert individuals with good balance and physical strength

  • Work during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site.

  • Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment

  • Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of material and up to 90 pounds of material with assistance, if requested.

  • Frequently walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing.

  • Frequent use of hand tools such as power tools, circular saws, hammers, nails, and bolts.

  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Travel: 

This position requires regional travel for project assignments, meetings, and training, and possible overnight stays.
